In the spring of 1988, I graduated from high school knowing only two things for sure. First, I wanted to work with young people. And second, my best grades were in English. So off I went to college, with the intention of becoming a high school English teacher.
My journey through college was definitely not a straight path. It took me six years to earn a four year degree! After two college transfers, changing my major and wasting a bunch of time and money, I finally earned a B.A. in English from the Ohio State University. In the years that followed, I worked in the advertising, marketing and publishing world until my oldest child was born. It was then that I decided to stay home and raise my family.
Now, both of my kids are in college. I know first hand the difficulties of navigating the college experience. The countless hours of work and conversations, trying to make good decisions, choose the best schools, get the most value and frankly, not make the same mistakes I made, can be overwhelming!
When the opportunity to work at JCP was presented to me, I jumped at the chance! It’s as if the plans I had all those years ago in high school are coming full circle. I get to work with young people and also use my degree. Helping students and their families navigate a crazy but exciting time is a privilege I do not take for granted. I am honored to be a part of your journey!
